THX ® Facts

THX ® was created by Lucasfilm, (the Star Wars people,) and is a collection of standards designed to ensure high quality reproduction.

Based on six discreet channels of sound (really 5.1 as is Dolby Digital ®) 
THX ® specifies you use speakers with sound ports on the front and back called "dipole speakers," in place of regular surround sound speakers. THX ® systems also prefer you to use higher dynamic range subwoofers and an enhanced power output of the amplifier you buy, to get the full enjoyment of THX ®.

Look for THX® certified logos when shopping, but you do not have to have THX ® to view a certified DVD.
